Today was the first day I was able to work on my very own art :)
Since it was my day, I decided to create with my favorite medium, clay (polymer clay in this case)
Today's creature choice was an octopus and while starting to add the tentacles and sculpting details I started thinking about "how would I teach this to a child?"
Teaching a child to draw and see value is one thing but going from 2D to 3D is quite another. When first creating 3D art students have difficulty seeing the sides in the round. Loving to teach and create with clay is always so exciting. There is a marvelous element of critical thinking, planning and problem solving that, in my opinion, is one thing children today are lacking in home and school life.
So my thought today is wouldn't it be wonderful if every child and adult had to create an octopus with eight legs? :)
